Qi Gong, meaning “work with energy,” revolves around the concept of “Qi” as the life force. When Qi is abundant, it brings vitality and good health to an individual. Regular practice of Qi Gong can enhance both physical and emotional health, leading to a sense of well-being.
We practice with slow flowing movements, using Qi and following the energy. We can practice in stillness, in a certain state as if we are drifting between waking and sleeping: we call it the “Qi Gong state”. When our thoughts calm down and dissipate, another force can arise. When Qi flows, energy blockages can be released which allows the body to heal and the mind to relax.
Grandmaster Li’s training began as a child in martial arts and Chinese medicine. He was instructed by 11 important masters in various Qi Gong disciplines for more than thirty years. He has been teaching the most effective elements of the different traditions in a new bespoke exercise program since 1989, the “Still form of Qi Gong” for Western students.
“The word stillness is a method. It is also an attitude of the heart. Finding stillness in this complex human world and purifying the heart, soul and spirit, and being without doubt – this is a state of cultivating and nourishing our body and energy essence.”
